BLACK SABBATH Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (UK/EU 8-track LP pressed on 180-gram black vinyl. By 1973, four albums in, Black Sabbath had already laid down the foundations of heavy metal. But with Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, they silenced their critics and delivered a record hailed at the time - even by the once-sceptical Rolling Stone - as "an extraordinarily gripping affair" and "a complete success." Climbing to number 4 in the UK and breaking into the US Top 20, the album cemented Sabbath's stature as both commercial force and creative innovators. From the colossal title track and A National Acrobat to the surging Sabbra Cadabra (featuring Yes keyboard maestro Rick Wakeman) and the reflective acoustic interlude Fluff, the band stretched their range without losing the sheer weight of their sound. Closing with the soaring, cinematic Spiral Architect, this was Sabbath proving they could be progressive, inventive, and still utterly heavy.
