Cardiacs - A Little Man And A House And The Whole World Window [LP. New, MINT]
CARDIACS LSD (2025 UK/EU limited edition 17-track LP pressed on Green Smoke/Red Smoke Vinyl A gloriously chaotic and brilliantly unclassifiable entry in the catalogue of Cardiacs LSD stands as a vivid testament to the band’s fearless creativity and uncompromising vision. Blending punk energy with progressive complexity this release captures the essence of a group that has long defied convention and delighted in musical mischief. At the centre of it all is the singular genius of Tim Smith whose off-kilter songwriting and surreal lyrical imagery drive the album’s unpredictable journey. Tracks twist and turn with dizzying speed—shifting tempos abrupt dynamics and kaleidoscopic melodies colliding in a way that somehow feels both anarchic and meticulously crafted.Musically LSD is a whirlwind. Frenetic guitar lines crash into bursts of brass while pounding rhythms underpin passages of almost childlike whimsy before veering into darker more dissonant territory. It’s this constant tension between beauty and chaos that gives the record its unique character—never settling always surprising.Yet beneath the apparent madness lies a remarkable sense of structure and intent. Every unexpected turn feels deliberate every melodic fragment part of a larger intricate puzzle. It’s music that rewards repeated listens revealing new layers and hidden details with each spin.Presented here in vinyl form LSD becomes an even more immersive experience—its rich textures and dynamic contrasts perfectly suited to the warmth and depth of the format. For devoted fans and adventurous listeners alike this is more than an album; it’s an invitation into the wonderfully strange world of Cardiacs—a place where rules are rewritten and imagination reigns supreme.
