rescueME EDF2 electronic distress flare is a reusable boat flare that signals SOS using high-intensity LEDs (not burning chemicals) as a safer pyrotechnics flare alternative for marine emergencies VISIBILITY THAT LASTS (NOT SECONDS): Delivers a visible range of up to 8 nautical miles with a wide ≥180° luminous angle and strong all-round light distribution—built to help vessels, aircraft and SAR spot you faster in real-world conditions. 3+ HOURS RUN TIME + REUSABLE (NO EXPIRY): Provides an operational life of at least 3 hours (and exceeds RTCM requirements by 50%) using user-replaceable CR123 lithium batteries—no “use once then bin” waste and no ongoing subscription fees. FLOATS & SELF-RIGHTS (BUOYANT BOAT FLARE): Built-in buoyancy means it floats and automatically rights itself for effective signalling on the water—ideal for liferafts, ditch bags, MOB situations, and rough seas where keeping a flare upright matters. SAFER THAN PYRO FLARES (NO FLAME / NO RED SMOKE CANISTER): No fire, no explosive compounds, no hot casing and no red smoke flare residue—easier to store, safer to operate on deck, and reduces hazardous disposal/landfill compared with traditional pyrotechnic flares
